North Wales Police have confirmed that fireworks were stolen from the industrial estate, potentially explaining the early morning ‘display’ some residents have had to endure.

Police say thieves broke into storage containers on the Wrexham industrial estate overnight.

Police were alerted to the burglary at Ash Road North at 6.38 am. It is understood that at least six containers were broken into and a quantity of fireworks was taken from one container, but it is not clear yet what, if anything, was stolen from the other containers.

The police statement also references ‘social media reports’ to Wrexham.com , where a number of residents contacted us to say they had heard fireworks going off in the early hours.

North Wales Police are saying they are ‘not ruling out a connection at this stage’.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 with crime reference number R063447.
