Fire crews are tackling a fire this evening near the Horseshoe Pass.

Tina sent us the top picture saying, “Fire up on the Ponderosa. Hope the fire brigade have managed to get it under control”, with Jane posting the below image looking up from Llangollen.

Fire crews have been in the area most of the afternoon into this evening, with several crews fighting the fire as it has spread through the gorse after a similar fire yesterday in the area reignited in what has been described as ‘tinder dry’ conditions after another day of baking temperatures.

Llangollen news site LlanBlogger noted “Thick smoke can clearly be seen from Llangollen town centre” and has another image on their site here.
