A series of drop-in information days have been arranged for people wanting to find out more about the new extra care apartments due to open in Wrexham this summer.

The £10.5m Maes y Dderwen extra care scheme, located on Grosvenor Road, is specifically designed for local people aged 60 or over who wish to live independently in a home of their own with 24-hour access to care support.

Anyone interested in the new apartments either for themselves or for a family member, can call in to meet the team who are hosting information events at the Wrexham Museum in Regent Street daily from March 13 to 17 where there will also be the opportunity to arrange a visit to the new show apartment at the scheme.

Senior Extra Care Manager Carol Thomas, from the Pennaf Housing Group, said: “We’ve already received many applications from people who want to live at the Maes y Dderwen scheme, as it’s town centre location, large self-contained apartments and access to 24-hour care and support, make it an ideal option for those over 60 years of age wishing to live independently in a high-quality environment.

“There is however still a chance for others to apply, subject to certain criteria.”

She added: “The advantage of Extra Care is that it allows for people with a full range of care and support needs to live a lifestyle that is as independent as possible.”

The drop-in information sessions at the Wrexham Museum will be held between 10:30am – 4pm on Tuesday 13th March; 10:00am – 4pm on Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th and Friday 16th March and from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm on Saturday 17th March.
