Shoppers heading into town on Saturday for a last minute Christmas shopping trip can take advantage of free all day parking at the People’s Market.

Saturday is the last free, all day parking initiative of the festive period – with free parking available at the People’s Market on Saturday 19th December.

Free car parking in the town centre has been available on all Saturday’s across December, with the month beginning with free parking in all council owned car parks at the start of the month.

The date coincided with the Small Business Saturday event, with the free parking attracting thousands of shoppers into the town centre across the afternoon.

The move follows a similar decision made last year, which proved successful with shoppers.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Transport and Environment, said: “We have received a very positive response from traders and visitors to the town centre to the free parking days throughout the year and I am hopeful we will be able to continue the initiative into next year.”

Also available over the weekends leading up to Christmas is a car parking initiative at the Coleg Cambria site on Grove Park Road, offering £2 to park all day on the site. All money will also be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.
