A local community has held its annual Christmas party for senior citizens.

The event, which is funded by Offa Community Council, took place in the Parciau Community Centre in Bellevue last Saturday.

The party was well attended and guests were treated to a traditional Christmas turkey dinner prepared by Dot to Dot cafe on Henblas Street. Each guest also received a small Christmas gift

A local church choir performed for guests and the Deputy Mayor of Wrexham Councillor Ronnie Prince was there to help serve the meals along with members of the Community Council and other volunteers.

During the afternoon the Offa Senior Citizen of the Year Award for 2019 was awarded to Mrs Ruth Williams by Councillor Graham Rogers Member for Hermitage Ward.

Mrs Williams was nominated for the award in recognition of her work in the local community and at St Giles Parish Church over many years.

Offa Community Council Clerk Mrs Karen Benfield said she “thanked everyone involved for helping to make the event such a happy festive occasion”.
