Homes and businesses in Wrexham look set to benefit from a new scheme that will see super-fast broadband rolled out throughout the country borough.

Wrexham Council is working closely with BT and Welsh Government towards to successfully role out the Superfast Cymru scheme, that will bring superfast broadband to Wrexham.

Bangor on Dee, Dutton Diffeth, Rhosllanerchrugog, Rossett Threapwood and Ruabon will have access to fibre optic broadband by summer 2014. Further role outs will include Farndon in autumn 2014 and Chirk, Glyn Ceiriog, Hanmer, Overton-on-Dee and Redbrook Maelor in early 2015.

Cllr Neil Rogers, Leader of Wrexham Council said: “This is a great story for residents and businesses in Wrexham. We have campaigned long and hard to ensure this project comes to fruition and I’m especially pleased that this latest roll out will mean that rural areas in the country borough will be able to benefit from faster internet speeds.

“Businesses will be enabled to grow through online sales and increased efficiencies and it will also allow for more effective public services, and easier access to information and services by citizens.”
