Family rescued by NEWSAR volunteers in Berwyn Mountains
A family that became lost in the Berwyn Mountains has been helped and rescued by a team of volunteers.
NEWSAR (North North East Wales Search & Rescue) was received a distress call on Thursday (15 February) from a family that had “become disorientated and tired” in the Berwyn Mountains.
The voluntary group’s dedicated search and rescue team attended the location and successfully located the missing family and guided them back to safety.
In a statement NEWSAR said: “Our dedicated Search and Rescue team was called into action on Thursday evening in response to a distress call from a family in the Berwyn Mountains.
“The group had become disorientated and tired, finding themselves in need of assistance.
“Our highly skilled and committed volunteers swiftly mobilised to the location, equipped and ready to face the challenging terrain.
“We are pleased to report that the team successfully located the missing family and guided them back to safety.
“A waiting Land Rover was utilised to facilitate a safe and efficient return for the rescued family.”
NEWSAR is a non-profit organisation that relies solely on donations made by members of the public.
Its team of volunteers is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week all year round – responding to those in need throughout Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham and parts of Conwy & Powys.
