“Essential track maintenance” will begin on the line between Wrexham Central and Wrexham General Stations this weekend.

The works, being undertaken by Network Rail, involve “removing and replacing track and ballast (the rocks that secure the track) to help maintain a safe and reliable railway.”

Network Rail has warned that the continuous work is expected to be noisy and disruptive, with staff and machinery on site 24/7.

The works will take place on the following dates:

As a result of the works on the weekends Network Rail warn that some services will be impacted between Shrewsbury / Wrexham Central and Chester / Bidston.

In a letter to residents the stations, Network Rail said: “We wanted to apologise for the late notice of this letter, but we’ll soon be working between Wrexham Central and Wrexham General to carry out essential track maintenance.

“This work will involve removing and replacing track and ballast (the rocks that secure the track) to help us maintain a safe and reliable railway.

“We will be working during the dates and times listed, but please be aware these dates may change.

“Please note that the continuous work is expected to be noisy and disruptive as staff and machinery will be working 24/7 on the railway.

“The nature of our work often means some noise is unavoidable. We know we’re working near your home and will try to minimise this as much as possible, but we are sorry if we disturb you.”

If you’re planning to travel on the above days check the Transport for Wales website.
