Several Wrexham.com readers have been in touch to say they have seen emergency service activity around Ruthin Road including a helicopter landing.

The helicopter, which appears to be a Sea King search and rescue model, has landed on the field behind the RAFA Club on Ruthin Road, opposite the new Morrisons.

Ben Davies tweeted us to say “RAF helicopter 3 police cars and an ambulance on the field behind the Rafa club”.

One eyewitness has been in touch to say they saw the helicopter circling as though it was looking for a place to land, with two others saying a patient transfer occurred with a gurney being wheeled over the field.

The crew were chatting to onlookers when we popped down.

The crew were chatting to onlookers when we popped down.

We popped down to the field where as of 3pm the (massive) helicopter is on the ground. Its been confirmed it was a landing to allow a transfer of a casualty to the Maelor. Currently the crew are awaiting a winch man and then they will be flying off again.

Quite a few people looked on, and Paul Bullock said: “We’re all having a close look. Crew being brilliant with the public.”

Several have asked if Prince William was at the controls, however Paul said: “Alas he’s not here”. We could not spot him either.

@chillyed sent us the above photograph of the helicopter in the field with the emergency services close by.
