With Christmas fast approaching, North Wales Police are again encouraging drivers to secure their vehicles and remove all valuables which could potentially tempt thieves.

The advice comes off the back of a series of vehicle related thefts across the region in the past few weeks.

Sgt Kenny Temple Morris is also urging members of the public to double check before they leave their vehicle unattended.

He explained: “Most thefts are opportunistic and I urge car owners to take a few extra seconds to look at their vehicle security, to ensure that no items or cash are left on display and that the car is locked.”

“Christmas gifts are easy pickings for opportunist thieves who will make off with such items within seconds.

“Theft from vehicles is a long standing problem and will continue until owners take personal responsibility of their possessions. We are committed to preventing crime, which means fewer victims.”

Tips to motorists

Motorists should park in well-lit areas if possible, lock all doors, remove all items of value and activate the alarm.

Never leave items of value on display. Ensure they are removed or hidden from view.

If you have any information relating to car crime please contact North Wales Police on 101 or contact the control room direct. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
