Wrexham Trading Standards and North Wales Police have recently conducted a rapid response visit to an address in the Moss area of Wrexham following reports that a number of residents had been cold called by traders on their doorstep following the recent bad weather. A number of residents had agreed to work to repair their gutters, once the traders involved started work this resulted in them being pressured into having further work carried out and the price increasing substantially.

As a result of these allegations Police Officers carried out an arrest of two males carrying out work on the properties. The individuals were then interviewed under caution by Trading Standards Officers and released on bail. Wrexham Trading Standards are continuing their investigations into the matter.

Trading Standards have said they take incidents like this very seriously and will endeavor to ensure that rogue traders are punished and brought to justice.

If you see anyone acting suspiciously or if you’ve been the victim of a rogue trader then contact Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 08454 040506; Welsh language line 08454 04 05 05. If a trader becomes abusive or you feel threatened contact the Police on 999.
