A doner meat production company based in Wrexham has entered plans to create a new chicken processing plant.

Armon Limited currently has a doner manufacturing facility on the Five Crosses Industrial Estate in Minera.

The family behind the business is said to have founded one of the first kebab take aways in North Wales during the 1980s and now wants to open a new site to process chicken meat next door to the existing factory.

In a series of planning documents, officials from Armon Ltd said the expansion would create six new jobs.

The building the proposals are centred round was previously used by a gas firm.

A report to councillors reads: “Armond Ltd is a well established quality supplier of meat products and has gradually grown in size over the years.

“This application seeks to provide additional accommodation adjacent to the current business premises by developing a vacant site previously owned by the Gas Utility Company.

“The proposals will enable Armon to expand their business and add diversity to its product line with the introduction of a chicken processing facility.

“Currently Armon Ltd employs 13 people and envisage employing a further six staff members.

“The proposals seek to make best use of a vacant sloping site within a well established industrial estate.”

Changes could be made to allow improved access to the site as part of the plans.

It comes after the company said the current traffic and parking arrangements were not adequate.

They added: “The site is an awkward one, with parking and traffic flows being problematic.

“The design of the proposals seeks to overcome these issues as best as the site and surrounding areas constraints will allow.

“To this end a new driveway and access is proposed such that outbound vehicles can generally leave the site without having to utilise the inbound route.

“This new driveway would be for the sole use of Armon related traffic.”

The application will be considered by Wrexham Council at a future date.
