Diocese of Wrexham encourages people to book in advance to attend Christmas services
The Diocese of Wrexham is urging those hoping to visit Catholic services this Christmas to book tickets in advance.
This year special arrangements have been made for extra masses and service to accommodate the number of people who would want to get church for Christmas.
The Diocese say this has been necessary because of the “severe restriction of the number of people who can attend church whilst being socially distanced to be in compliance with government regulations and church guidelines to keep everybody safe.”
As a result this year it is necessary for most churches to operate a booking or ticketing system to regulate these admissions into the church.
A spokesperson for Diocese of Wrexham, said: “We would ask that people do not just turn up as they might have in the past as they could be refused admission simply on the grounds that the capacity of the church has been reached. Information about arrangements and details of service can be obtained from each parish.
“For those individuals who are able to get a place at one of the many Christmas Masses, we would advise them to dress warmly as the doors and windows of the churches will remain open in order to maintain maximum ventilation which inevitably means the Churches will be colder than usual and possibly no warmer than outside.
“Sanitising, face mask and distancing regulations are also in force in all churches.
“Those in the community who are vulnerable or feel they cannot take the risk of being in church can join in many parishes’ Christmas celebrations through live-streaming, details of which can be found on the Diocesan website.
“There are also links there to take you to a variety of Christmas readings, prayers and home and family services which have been created especially for this Christmas under COVID regulations.”
Contact details about each parish can be drawn from the Diocesan website: www.rcdwxm.org.uk
