Motorists are being warned of likely delays with ’emergency gas work repairs’ on a busy road in Wrexham to begin first thing tomorrow.

From 9:30am tomorrow morning emergency gas works are to take place on the A525, Junction of Kingsmills Road and Whitegate Road.

As a result of the works there will be three way traffic lights operating in the area and motorists are being warned of delays in the area.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: “Please find an alternative route into or out of town if possible otherwise please allow plenty of time for your journey. We apologise for any inconvenience whilst Wales and West Utilities make these urgent repairs.”

These are the second emergency gas repairs to have taken place in the past few weeks, with repairs taking place on Bradley Road / Watery Road at the end of April.

Peter Hughes, Wales & West Utilities Operational Manager for Wrexham said: “There is a leak on a gas pipe that runs under the A525 Kingsmills Road at the junction with Whitegate Road. So we can repair this safely, there will be three way traffic lights in place at the junction from this evening.

“We know this work will be inconvenient, and we’ve worked closely with Wrexham County Borough Council in planning the traffic management to keep this to a minimum. We are not yet able to say how long this work will take, but we will be working as safely and as quickly as we can and will keep the local community updated.

“Our Customer Service Team is ready to take your call if you have any questions about our work. You can contact them on 0800 912 2999 or by [email protected]. Alternatively, you can contact us on Twitter @WWUtilities or Facebook.com/wwutilities.

“Wales & West Utilities, the gas emergency and pipeline service, takes pride in serving Wales and the south west of England. If anyone smells gas, thinks they have a gas leak, or suspects carbon monoxide poisoning, they should call us on 0800 111 999 and our engineers will be there to help, day or night.”
