Date announced for new £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment
The UK government has announced a payment window for the £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment set to benefit more than six million disabled people.
The one-off payment will commence on the 20th of June and continue over a two-week period until the 4 July 2023.
The payment is a follow-up to the initial £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment that was issued last September.
Recipients who qualify for the payment via a disability benefit will receive it automatically during the stated two-week window.
The initiative aims to acknowledge and support the additional costs that disabled individuals often face, such as care and mobility needs.
The full list of benefit recipients that qualify for the upcoming Disability Cost of Living payment are those who receive:
- Disability Living Allowance
- Personal Independence Payment
- Attendance Allowance
- Scottish Disability Benefits (Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment)
- Armed Forces Independence Payment
- Constant Attendance Allowance
- War Pension Mobility Supplement
In order to get the £150, you must have received of one of the above qualifying benefits for 1 April 2023 to get the payment.
For those who were awaiting confirmation of their entitlement to disability benefits on 1 April, or who are waiting to be assessed for eligibility to receive disability benefits, the process may take longer, but payments will still be automatic
Mel Stride MP, the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, expressed, “This payment helps protect those who need our support the most, providing a vital financial boost to six million disabled people.”
The Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, Tom Pursglove MP, added: “We know the cost of living has gone up for disabled people, which is why we are taking action to reduce the financial pressures they face.”
The Disability Cost of Living Payment is a key part of the government’s strategy to support the most vulnerable in society, particularly in light of growing economic pressures. It is a reinforcement of their commitment to aid UK households in managing the escalating cost of living.
