Appeal For Witnesses Following Collision In Llay

Update:

An appeal is being made for witnesses and information following a collision in Llay this morning (Thursday, June 20).

At 4.42am police received a report from the Ambulance Service of the collision on New Road Llay / Ffordd Newydd Llai, Llay.

One car, a Silver Vauxhall Tigra, was involved in the incident which happened outside the main gates of the Alyn Waters Country Park.

Police attended along with the other emergency services and one man, a passenger, was freed from the car by the NW Fire and Rescue Service. He was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital and has since been transferred to Stoke Hospital with serious injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

The road was closed for some time as a telephone pole was damaged.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the Unauthorised Taking of a Motor Vehicle and is currently in custody awaiting questioning.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has information is urged to contact PC153  Whistler at the Roads Policing Unit in Deeside on 101.

 

Earlier Report:

Llay New Road B5425 was closed by the junction with Plas Acton road this morning due to a car incident just before 5am.

There was local reports that a van was also involved in the incident.

A man was released from the vehicle and taken to the Maelor Hospital.

The road was closed for around three hours as investigation work and recovery took place.

The police helicopter was also overhead around 6am.
