Wrexham Council have asked the travellers on St Giles car park to leave, and will take legal action if they do not move.

Earlier this morning we asked if there was any comment on the camp that appeared yesterday evening, and if legal action would be taken to evict them. Wrexham Council told us this afternoon: “The Travellers have been issued with notice to leave the site this afternoon.”

“If this does not happen we will seek an eviction notice from the courts.”

We also asked in light of the tolerated camp on the Groves there had been speculation over the future treatment of travellers by Wrexham Council on Council land as and when the situation arises. As that had now become a reality we asked how one ad hoc camp / group of people will not be tolerated, but another is.

Wrexham Council replied: “The Groves encampment is quite a different situation that we are constantly monitoring.”
