Wrexham AFC say they are pleased to confirm they have received council approval for the temporary stand on The Kop, which will be open at 80% capacity for Saturday’s game against Newport County.

Tickets will be available to buy online, for members only, from 4pm today.

The club say for the Newport game only, tickets are available to buy online only as digital tickets and can be purchased from our eTicketing website. There will be no tickets available from the Club Shop.

We asked Wrexham Council about the ‘hurdles’ referenced by the club around licensing yesterday. Wrexham Council did not respond.

UPDATE: Wrexham Council have now send over a line where Council Leader Mark Pritchard said:

We can confirm that an amended Safety Certificate and Building Regulations approval has been granted for the temporary stand at the Racecourse Stadium.

The first game on Saturday will be limited to an 80% capacity following the advice from multi agency partners as part of the Safety Advisory Group for the Racecourse Stadium.

We wish to take this opportunity to thank all partners including North Wales Police, North Wales Fire Service and colleagues in Welsh Ambulance Service Trust on their input in determining the recent applications and also for their commitment in protecting the public and spectators on match days in partnership with Wrexham AFC.

Good luck to the team on Saturday and we hope that spectators will behave accordingly and enjoy the game.”

Once fully open the temporary stand will have a capacity of 2,289 and accommodation for an additional 20 wheelchairs with access via Crispin Lane. There are no indications what is required to get to 100% capacity.

The council recently came under fire when the full redevelopment Kop had a capacity refusal, something that caused a minor kick off with councillors.
