A further public consultation over Wrexham’s Local Development Plan (LDP) has been launched on the proposed ‘focussed changes’.

The six-week process, which launched on Monday 7th January, is seeking feedback and representations on the proposals to ” to ensure that the LDP is sound”.

In November 2018 a majority of councillors voted in favour of ‘depositing’ Wrexham’s LDP to public examination with Welsh Government and Planning Inspectorate Wales – something which is expected to take place later this year.

Last month’s full council meeting saw a number of councillors call for the depositing of the LDP to be refused. But a recorded vote saw the the LDP passing 30 in favour and 17 against. Details of which councillors voted for and against can be found below:

Now ahead of the public examination taking place, residents are being asked to have their say on ‘focussed changes’ – which are based off responses received during last year’s consultation.

Representations made at this stage must stick to the focussed changes and should clearly express support or objection. Comments should not propose further changes outside of the focussed changes put forward. Any representations submitted at Deposit Stage do not need to be re-submitted.

The examination will then be carried out by an independent inspector who will decide whether the plan is fundamentally ‘sound’.

The Inspector will assess the soundness of the plan as a whole rather than simply considering individual objections, and will base her judgement on the evidence available – along with the representations made and the particular circumstance of the Plan and the area.

The Submission Documents can be viewed here. You have until  5pm on Monday 18th February to have your say  here.
