A construction firm leading a major redevelopment on a Wrexham college is inviting local people and businesses to find out about job and supplier opportunities on the scheme.

Wynne Construction and its partners are hosting a ‘Meet The Buyer’ and jobs fair for the Coleg Cambria Yale project, which will be held at Tŷ Pawb in the town on Wednesday 19 June, from 9am to midday.

As well as individuals looking for a new job, professionals in trades from roofing to fire and security are being encouraged to attend to access information on subcontractor packages.

Industry bodies and career support services including the Construction Industry Training Board for Wales (CITB Cymru), Wrexham Job Centre, and Business Wales, will also be attending with advice for attendees on the day.

The event forms part of Wynne Construction’s commitment to working alongside local businesses and people during the development, says quantity surveyor, David Wynne.

He said: “We’re looking forward to speaking to both individuals and companies, particularly those who may not have engaged with us before, about how they could get involved with the scheme.

“The campus is going to be a state-of-the-art facility, and we require a number of people with a variety of skills to help us deliver the project, which is our third major contract in Wrexham.

“Having also led on the refurbishment of the Tŷ Pawb arts hub as well as the Bersham Road site for Coleg Cambria, it is good to be back in Wrexham and meeting with local people, which is something we always strive to do wherever we work.”

The new, three-storey, 96,000 sq ft Yale site will include a 200-seat conference hall, restaurant, and leading sports facilities.

Demolition work on the site has been carried out, with groundworks now underway ahead of the erection of the steel structure.

Wynne Construction, which operates throughout North Wales, Mid Wales and the North West of England, regularly leads on projects in sectors including education, healthcare, and sport and leisure.

In November 2018, it was named SME of the Year (up to 250 employees) at the UK-wide Constructing Excellence awards.

To register your attendance, email Alison Hourihane, business and community development manager at Wynne Construction, at [email protected]. Walk-ins will also be welcome.

The following trades are of interest for potential opportunities on the site:
