Six community groups within Trevor, Froncysyllte and Garth (Llangollen Rural) have been successful in accessing a grant of up to £500 to help them with their activities.

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site Board alongside, Wrexham Council’s Asset and Economic Development Department developed the ‘Community Grants Scheme’ to support local community groups.

The scheme has funded projects that involve local people in their community, as a way of saying ‘Thank You’ to those, who live in the villages surrounding the area, in which the Underneath the Arches Event is held annually.

Cllr Hugh Jones, Chair of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site, said: “Grants of up to £500 were available and have supported a variety of projects in the area, which will make a real difference to local community groups.

“Projects receiving financial support, plan to carry out activities, such as: extra equipment for a local bowling club, an additional laptop for the local Telecottage and improvements to a local community facility.”

The projects will all run during 2016, for further information please contact: [email protected]
