The Member of Parliament for Clwyd South recently joined members of the community for a socially-distanced, outdoor Christmas Carol Service at the Ponciau Bandstand.

Led by Pastor Joshua Roberts of the Grace Baptist Church of Rhosllanerchrugog, the service involved carols and Bible readings in both Welsh and English, along with live musical performances.

Pastor Joshua Roberts said: “What a joy and privilege it was to be able to come together and remember the birth of the Saviour.

“It was a special privilege to have Simon Baynes MP and Mayor Rob Walsh in attendance.

“We at Grace Baptist are thankful for their hard work in this difficult time.

“We trust that the service brought and continues to bring the hope, joy, and peace of Christ to many. We wish each and every one Nadolig Llawen a Blwydden Newydd Dda.”

Simon Baynes MP said: “In what has been a very different festive period this year where, sadly, many concerts and get-togethers have had to be cancelled, I was delighted to attend an outdoor, socially-distanced Christmas Carol Service in Rhos.

“It was extremely uplifting to hear Welsh and English carols and readings and to enjoy the Christmas service.

“I would like to express my thanks to Pastor Josh Roberts and the Grace Baptist Church, Rhos Community Council, County Cllr Paul Pemberton, the Mayor of Wrexham and the wider community.

“I was especially delighted that the Christmas Carol Service was able to take place in a safe and Covid compliant manner – and I would like to wish everybody involved a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
