Hospitality and catering students from Coleg Cambria are to benefit from a new partnership with Marks & Spencer Wrexham.

The new partnership between the college and M&S on Eagles Meadow will allow the learners to undertake work experience at the store café and food court and receive M&S training.

Representatives from the major retailer will also come in to the college to give advice and talks about what it takes in work in the industry.

Welcoming the partnership, George Lee, Store Manager at M&S Wrexham, said: “We’re delighted to be working alongside Coleg Cambria to give students the chance to kick-start their future careers. It’s important to ensure students gain a rounded experience at college, both inside the classroom and out.

“Our work placements allow students to develop their communication and teamwork skills, as well as gain valuable hands on experience in the food and hospitality sector.”

Coleg Cambria Deputy Director for Hospitality and Catering, Andy Woods added: “This partnership is a wonderful opportunity for Coleg Cambria to develop links with an internationally known brand; the standards that are expected at M&S will ensure that our learners receive the highest quality work placements.

“It’s vitally important that our learners develop an understanding of possible career routes within Hospitality and Catering and that they develop the skills and knowledge which would enable them to gain employment with sector leading companies.”
