Clwyd South election candidates warmly clashed yesterday in the only debate held for the constituency.

Candidates Christopher Allen, Jamie Adams, Calum Davies, Simon Baynes and Susan Elan Jones were all posed questions to discover their views on a range of topics – and invited to challenge each other if the desired – in the debate held by Wrexham.com

Questions included Brexit, healthcare, homelessness, their analysis of the local economy and what (non Brexit!) policies could help the community.

We also asked if the candidates believed in their party leaders, and if the people of Clwyd South could see them as a role model, a question that created some interesting replies.

The hour flew by, including asking candidates to name a solid tangible thing they would deliver for the people inside the first 100 days as MP.

Debates often end up with something soft and fluffy as a ‘fun’ end, but we thought we would ask who the candidates think people should absolutely certainly not vote for out of their competitors and why. Again, the answers were interesting!

You can view the full debate video below on Youtube allowing you to dip in and out, or spool through to sections of interest to you:

The Wrexham candidate debate will be viewable on Wrexham.com at 8pm this evening.

Thanks to Wrexham Glyndwr University for generously hosting the debates. Thanks to the staff, and of course the team behind the cameras – Ben Hirst, James Veal, Roxy, Michael Frith and Megan Davies.
