A new clothing shop that specialises in ex catalogue and discount brands has opened in the Central Arcade.

Mark’s Discounts opened just under a month ago and sells a range of children’s and women’s clothing.

Mark, who owns the shop used to specialise in computers, but said that after a few years felt it was time to take on a new challenge.

“I’ve gone for brands that people will recognise, such as Cotton Trader, H&M, Littlewoods and New Look.” said Mark.

“People are starting to come in and are saying it’s good to have people moving into the Arcade.”

The shop predominately stocks women’s clothing at the moment, including going out dresses, coats, shorts and shirts.

Mark said: “I’ve chosen all the clothes myself, along with my partner who has also has some input.

“I’ve been surprised by the range of sizes and style there are.  At the moment I’m buying mixed boxes from size six upwards. However babies straight through to teenagers are also catered for.”

Alongside brands such as Cotton Traders and New Look, Mark’s Discounts also stocks a handful of Lipsy dresses at a discounted price.

Mark said: “I stock affordable clothes that people wear. I’ve tried to go in the middle of lower and higher brands.

“There’s a mixed ranged of items, which are cheaper than they were originally.”

Just a few units down from Mark’s Discounts, a female boutique has also opened which specialises in high street fashion.

Mark said: “Hopefully shops opening in the arcade will also help the market. The two shops compliment each other.”

While it is still early days for Mark’s Discounts, there are already hopes that he will eventually be able to expand the store further and stock menswear as well.
