Wrexham’s Inspector Luke Hughes has a special summer offer, asking the public to call in if they see animals trapped in hot cars.

The information came as part of the regular policing update, that also notes a recall to prison of a “deeply unpleasant male” and how “occupants of Audi A4 vehicle” loaded a bike into the rear of their car and drove off in an apparent theft.

The full update is below:

Good afternoon all, another beautiful day in our glorious City Town, the weather has been most kind in recent weeks, but not everyone will appreciate this… please keep an eye on the more vulnerable members of our community, maybe individuals that are less mobile or elderly. Please consider what neighbourly things you can do to help. Also consider the welfare of animals in this weather. Dogs walking on hot pavement etc and of course don’t forget our summer “special officer”, we will happily ventilate any parked vehicles with animals inside by happily “opening” all your windows, just give us a quick call…

I’m not sure how long the warm weather will last, but back in the olden days we used to call this summer… so hopefully for the next few months at least, then cold white stuff used to fall out of the sky, I think that was winter, not Snowmaggeddon or Burnt Britain or other excitable headlines the press may use!

What follows is your 24hr update from 7am 12th June – 7am this morning (you may notice a theme)

Have a great day all, be good and be careful.

08:37hrs – Concern for a male – located safe & well.

16:29hrs – Theft of purse / debit card used to make local purchases – elderly victim (isolated incident) enquiries ongoing – priority to locate and deal – support offered.

19:13hrs – Recall to prison of deeply unpleasant male – arrested this morning after a great spot by officers on patrol. Good riddance.

19:28hrs – Concerns for a female Jacques way – taken to a place of safety.

20:12hrs – Theft of pushbike – male leaves bike and occupants of Audi A4 vehicle load into rear and drive off…. A090675 refers if you saw anything?

Not a great deal overnight – but officers patrolling into the early hours to keep you safe.

Please expect a press release in the next 24hrs in relation to an ongoing matter, all press will be issued centrally in relation to this.

Please take care and speak to you tomorrow.
