City centre shop offering safe space for youngsters with autism who love to game
A city centre retailer is providing a safe space for youngsters with autism who love to game.
On Thursday evenings Game, based on the first floor of Sports Direct on Henblas Street, provides ALN gaming sessions where children can play on Playstations, Xboxs and PCs.
The sessions have been organised by the team at Belong Wrexham, a gaming area within the store.
Victoria Roberts told Wrexham.com: “We started these sessions as my daughter is autistic and a massive gamer, but there isn’t anything out there for slightly older children.
“This is a safe space where we understand if your child shouts out – we understand and it’s great talking to other people who are going through the same as you.
“Every Thursday evening from 6-9 in Belong Wrexham we run a ALN gaming session. The gamers have use of Xbox’s, PlayStations and PCs with a whole range of games.
“The session is £5 per person gaming and siblings are welcome as I know how hard it is to find something for all your children.
“The doors are locked at 6pm and we have full use of the toilets, we have slushies other drinks and snacks available too.”
To get involved you can pop into store and book your gamer session or contact [email protected].
