Local police have said a Dispersal Order will be in place today between 3pm and Midnight.

The above map indicates the area covered in the city centre.

Officers from Wrexham Town policing said, “Parents and Carers – make sure your young people are aware of this” noting “As long as you don’t do anything wrong, or give the Police a reason to suspect you are going to do anything wrong, the Dispersal Order will not affect you”

A Dispersal Order means that the Police can ask a group of two or more people to leave the dispersal area if they are doing anything wrong, or if they believe that they may or are likely to cause a nuisance to someone else.

The Police may ask you to leave the area and not return to it within 24 hours. If you are aged under 16 and in the dispersal area without the supervision of an adult after 9pm, the Police may take you home if it is safe to do so.

Police note that if you then return to the area after being asked to leave by the Police, you will be arrested if seen, “This is a criminal offence and you may be charged and taken to court.”

During these times in the locality defined in the map, a Constable or Police Community Support Officer in uniform can direct any person who is in a public place in that locality –

(a) to leave the locality (or part of the locality), and,
(b) not to return to the locality (or part of the locality) for the period specified.
