City centre businesses crowned winner of ‘Small Business Saturday Survey’
Wrexham’s MP has hailed the winner of a survey designed to gauge the most popular small business locally.
Sarah Atherton visited Making Memories and Scents to congratulate owner Michelle Humphreys.
It came after her small business received the most votes in the Conservative MP’s ‘Small Business Saturday Survey’.
During the visit, Ms Atherton gifted the winning business a bottle of House of Commons champagne.
Making Memories and Scents, located at 23 Charles Street in Wrexham, is a small family-owned business that sells a range of personalised gifts, candles and festive treats.
There was a large volume of nominations for a variety of businesses, reflecting Wrexham’s diverse small business population.
After the winner was announced, Ms Atherton tagged each nominated small business in a ‘spotlight’ post on her Facebook account and encouraged residents to tag more Wrexham small businesses in the comments section.
After congratulating the winner, she also visited Marubbi’s Cafe on Bank Street, which is the longest-running family café in Wrexham, and nearby PW Hale Jewellers to commend them.
Ms Atherton said: “Small Business Saturday is a fantastic opportunity to shine a spotlight on Wrexham’s small businesses which contribute so much to our constituency and the local economy.
“I am grateful to everyone who participated in my survey. It was heart-warming to see residents spreading their appreciation and support for our local small business heroes.
“As Wrexham continues to grow, Small Business Saturday reaffirms the fact that we must be grateful to our small businesses that have remained resilient and, in some cases, seized opportunities, adapted, and diversified.
“Our pubs, cafes, independent clothes shops and so many other small businesses continue to provide goods and services, that we love, in every corner of our city.
“With Christmas fast approaching, I would encourage anybody who is looking for gifts to think of our small businesses, support fellow residents, and shop local.”
