Wrexhamites yesterday braved the cold weather to grab a bargain in the Boxing Day sales.

As usual one of the main attractions of the Boxing Day sales was the Next sale, with shoppers queuing up outside the Wrexham store from the early hours of the morning.

Rebecca kindly sent us the above picture from Eagles Meadow taken just before 6am, where she said queues were ‘back around the tree’.

Car parks were quite busy, and streets had a number of shoppers wandering around with what seemed a compulsory ‘Next Sale’ bag. Perhaps due to the low temperatures the shops themselves were much busier than the streets, with the only outside queue during the day being those looking for jewellery in Eagles Meadow:

One shopper in Wrexham said: “Eagles Meadow was very busy at 10am, the busiest I had seen it in a long time. There were people queuing up outside Mococo at 10:50, the shop didn’t open until 11am.”

Some shops looked like they were doing very well, with clothes shops having large queues. There were some grumbles due to a ‘no boxing day returns’ policy of some, but the below empty shelves were a common sight around town:

Although one shelf that stubbornly refused to empty was one centred around David Beckham:

Throughout the morning and early afternoon there were a steady stream of shoppers in the town, with some shops open as late as 7pm.
