CCTV plays key role in arrest within a minute after Chester Street assault
Wrexham’s Inspector Luke Hughes has detailed how CCTV was used to help arrest an individual, and will provide evidence, after a ‘disgraceful’ assault in the city centre.
The detail comes as part of the usual informative update that gives insight to the the wider modern policing role, helping people locally with medical emergencies and some social service roles, along with the more normal perception of policing.
The update also covers activities on the bypass yesterday, which as we updated earlier resulted in a 25-year-old from Wrexham being arrested on suspicion of burglary, earlier police said ‘he remains in custody at this time’. Enquiries to identify and locate the outstanding two suspects remain ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 1604764
The above picture was circulated as part of today’s update showing the giant of the Inspector on a ‘blood bike’ at today’s Wrexham council tenant day in Bellevue Park.
As usual the full local rundown is below…
Afternoon all
Lovely day today, had a nice walk over to the Wrexham council tenant day in Bellevue Park, good attendance and the sun “was” shining. The park was clean and tidy and I saw lots of happy faces. Sgt Rhian Hughes and I even got to sit on a motorbike used by the fantastic volunteers at “Blood Bikes Wales” although mine was a little smaller than Rhian’s…. and now I think about it they may have been taking the ….
So straight into the review, a bit of a montage blog thing coming tomorrow of the activity in Bellevue today and an Environmental audit on Tuesday. I hope you are all well and have a great evening.
08:25hrs – Two vehicle RTC Norfolk Road – one person taken to hospital by family – short road closure, hopefully no serious injuries.
12:25hrs – Female suspected responsible for a theft at the convenience shop on Poplar Road – CCTV enquiries ongoing, not the first offence staff suggest.
13:02hrs – Sighting of a vehicle recently been used in crime out of area – numerous officers attend including the helicopter. This forces the vehicle to go to ground and the occupants run for cover. One arrested who is now “helping” Cheshire police with their enquiries…
13:19hrs – Suspicious incident Mill Barn Road – occupant had heard there is gang going around stealing from people gardens.. Someone just knocked on his door but no one was there when he looked. No gang, just a male and female who have now stopped as they knew we were onto them and have kept their heads down since. But thank you for reporting it.
15:13hrs – Female detained for shoplifting on Island Green – community restorative outcome issued.
15:33hrs – Rowdy male reported on Chester Street, officers attend, he is calmed and sent on his way.
15:39hrs – Overnight report of theft from a large DIY store on Berse road – plants stolen from rear secure compound, a repeat location and it will be monitored overnight. I will consider the loan of a large Lion from Chester Zoo should it continue.. that will give him something to think about…
17:25hrs – RTC Mold Road – details exchanged.
21:42hrs – Officers respond to a pendant activation – vulnerable elderly female – all in order.
21:48hrs – Report of a drunk male causing issues at two venues in the city centre, CCTV captures him assaulting some males on Chester Street, he is arrested within one minute of the assault… I have viewed the footage and its disgraceful. He has been charged and will be in court next month, I am however pleased to say he is not a Wrexham native and has gone back home to Flintshire!!
22:17hrs – Report of a missing male – located safe & well.
23:08hrs – Male arrested for causing damage to a window in the Maes y Dre estate, isolated incident.
No further overnight activity, but officers were out and about trying to keep you all safe through the night.
Have a great evening, take care. 😊
Luke
