At 10:20pm this evening a large fire broke out in a caravan on St Davids Crescent in Caia Park. We tweeted after we saw a fire engine head into the estate, and residents got in touch to tell us about what initially looked like a house fire.

A caravan was set on fire with flames as high as a house. Thankfully the police, ambulance and fire services attended promptly, as there was local concern over gas canisters nearby.

Residents gathered around the scene, some in tears out of shock.

.

The fire was put out quickly and there are currently no reports of injuries.

Earlier today we were around 250 meters away down the road covering an armed stand off with police hunting someone with an air rifle.
