The Red Dragon pub in Caia Park is going to auction this month, with hopes a new owner may revive it.

The pub is due to go under the hammer on the 23rd at a Pugh Auction at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool with a guide price of £120,000.

The particulars descibe the site as: “A detached public house with ground floor trading area approximately 256 square meters with residential accommodation to the first floor, let at a current rent reserved of £20,800 pa”.

The pub is leasehold for 1000 years from 1962, with a peppercorn rent of £1 a year.

The site is described as 0.37 Acres with the following plan:

Previously plans to turn the pub into a rehabilitation centre for people with brain injuries were rejected by the council.

The current landlord has posted on our Facebook page seemingly unaware of the auction this month saying: “The pub went up for auction last month not this month and wasn’t sold it is still open not closed , I know as I’m the present land lord, incorrect news is not doing my trade any good as I said we are definitely open and trading.”

The auction listing for this month is here as Lot 45 on the Pugh Auctions site.
