In response to concerns about rogue traders among members of the public, all North Wales councils have joined a nationwide scheme which gives reliable businesses a seal of approval, setting them apart from bogus businesses.

Buy With Confidence is a UK-wide scheme administered by Trading Standards services, and provides consumers with a list of approved businesses who have given their commitment to trading fairly and taking customer services seriously.

As part of ‘Operation Rogue Trader Week 2017’, which took place earlier in May, police forces and Trading Standards departments found many consumers were unsure who to trust when on the lookout for reliable traders – especially given the number of rogue traders who intentionally target potentially vulnerable people on their doorstep.

Buy With Confidence can give members of the public a list of those traders and businesses whom they should seek out for work, free from potential fears of unfair trading practices.

Every business listed undergoes a series of detailed checks and is ‘audited’ by Trading Standards before being approved as a member of the scheme.

For more information about the scheme www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk or contact the North Wales Buy With Confidence Hub on 01248 752840.

Wrexham-based traders may contact Wrexham Trading Standards about the scheme by contacting Wrexham Council on 01978 298997.
