Entrepreneurs in Wrexham are being invited to a free networking event held by one of the UK’s leading organisations for businesses.

The Institute of Directors (IoD) North Wales is hosting its inaugural ‘99’ social at the Wrexham Enterprise Hub, which will focus on how entrepreneurs can grow their businesses.

Taking place in the new venue on Queens Square (the former Pebbles chip shop), the IoD 99 network is made up of start-ups and entrepreneurs across the UK, with regular events held for networking and business support.

Open to all organisations in Wrexham, the event on Wednesday 17th October will also include talks from two experts in business growth.

Mandy Watson, chief operating officer at the Welsh Innovation Centre for Enterprise (Welsh ICE), will discuss her career in business development.

Mandy founded Welsh ICE in 2012 as a support centre for start-up and micro businesses. Today it is home to more than 200 companies, and has contributed a collective £53 million to the economy.

Alex Mitchell, chair of the IoD 99 network and founder of strategic agency Causarma, will speak about the benefit of the IoD’s 99 membership.

Alex, who also set up Para-athletic equipment charity Kit Us Out, promotes entrepreneurs on an international level as a UK lead on the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance, and vice president of the European Confederation for Young Entrepreneurs.

IoD North Wales ambassador Helen Watson said: “We’re excited to be hosting this social in Wrexham, which is the inaugural IoD 99 event in North Wales.

“The event is for any business leader looking to meet new contacts, with two inspiring talks lined up from Mandy and Alex who have been there and done it in their respective industries.”

The informal social takes place on Wednesday 17 October from 5pm to 7pm. To book, contact Kerri-Anne Mruk on 02920 389 990 or email [email protected].
