A water main burst has left many residents to the west and north west of the town without water – with estimations suggesting the fault will be fixed later this afternoon.

Problems with water supplies across Wrexham were reported at 6:51am this morning, when a number of residents awoke to find they were experiencing low pressure or had no water at all.

It is thought the fault has been caused by a burst water mains near Alyn Waters.

Initially it was mainly homes Penyffordd, Penymynydd, Hope Caergwrle and Llay areas which had been affected. However it was later confirmed that those living in Gwersyllt, Summerhill, Bradley and Rhosrobin had also been left with no water supply.

A statement released by Dee Valley Water reads: “Dee valley water engineers are in the process of repairing Water Main in the Alyn Waters area.

“Customers in the Llay,Gwersyllt, Bradley, Summerhill,Hope,Penyffordd,Rhosrobin ,Higher Kinnerton and the surrounding area may have no water or notice a lower than normal pressure while the repairs take place.

“The repairs will take approximately 3-4 hours to complete. As a result of the isolation of the main you may have discoloured water after the repair has been completed. If that occurs please run you cold kitchen supply until it clears.”
