A local councillor has welcomed works to improve public access along a previously closed off section of road.

Queens Road, in Brymbo, has been shut for several years to both pedestrians and vehicles following a landslip.

However a new path has been constructed by Wrexham Council along the closed section of the road.

Groundworks were undertaken by council contractors prior to installing a new three metre wide tarmac path and removing the metal railings and installing new bollards at either end.

It is the latest investment by Wrexham Council following previous resurfacing work between Nant Court and Station Road.

Councillor Paul Rogers who fought to secure funding for the improvements has welcomed the works.

Cllr Rogers said: “As councillor I am pleased that Queens Road has now been reopened as a multi use path for residents to use.

“The fenced off section of road had also become an eyesore over recent years and these works have made a huge difference.

“Residents have also raised concerns about road safety resulting from the closure and I am currently working with council officers on further improvements between Nant Court and Station Road with work hopefully starting in the near future”
