The latest headline act for this year’s FOCUS Wales music and interactive festival has been announced.

Six piece indie rock band, ‘British Sea Power’ have confirmed they will headline Saturday night when the popular FOCUS Wales takes over Wrexham town centre between the Thursday 11 – Saturday 13 May.

Their Wrexham performance this spring comes in the wake of their latest single ‘Bad Bohemian’, which is already receiving considerable radio play and the announcement of the release of their latest album ‘Let The Dancers Inherit The Party’ later in the year.

This release follows on from the 2013 album Machineries Of Joy – an album which Q praised as “Their best record yet…. a triumph of sophisticated rock engineering.”

In the four years since that record, the band released two film soundtracks and recorded a third, delivered the theme to BT Sports European Championship, re-issued their classic debut album The Decline of British Sea Power and 2015 compilation Sea Of Brass (a kind of best-of-BSP recorded with the UK’s leading brass orchestras).

All the while, they have enthralled fans by playing gigs in ever more bizarre and unconventional locations.

Let The Dancers Inherit The Party sees the band return to the exhilarating and bright-minded guitar music that has seen them nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and which has drawn praise from David Bowie, Lou Reed and the National Maritime Museum, alongside Doctor Who, Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes (Peter Capaldi, Daniel Radcliffe and Benedict Cumberbatch have all declared an interest in the band).

British Sea Power will appear at the three day music industry and arts festival that will, once again, see FOCUS Wales take over the town centre of Wrexham, North Wales, programming over 200 of the hottest new live acts as well as established names from Wales and beyond, and presenting music industry and tech panels, and interactive workshops and events, featuring expert speakers from across the globe.

A limited number of Early Bird Tickets, priced at just £35 each, which grant access to all shows and interactive sessions over the three days of the festival, are also on sale now for a limited period.

FOCUS Wales 2017 takes place over the 11-13 of MAY at multiple venues in Wrexham. The event is supported by Arts Council of Wales, Welsh Government & PRS For Music Foundation
