Batten down the hatches as there’s a weather warning in place for strong winds at the end of the week.

The Met Office have issued a ‘Yellow Weather Warning’ across Wales for Friday 3 February – with strong gusts expected to hit the region between 6am and is in place until 11.55pm that evening.

It is forecast that some gusts of 60mph – 70mph will his some places, with the potential for 80mph winds in exposed coastal areas.

Details released by the Met Office, say: “There remains considerable uncertainty around the developments – if such winds were to occur, we would expect damage to trees and perhaps to buildings, possible disruption to power supplies, as well as delayed travel.”

Further information is provided in the Chief Forecaster’s Assessment, which adds: “A number of potentially vigorous low pressure systems are likely to move quickly towards northwest Europe later this week. One of these, on Friday, may affect parts of southern parts of the UK.

“However it is worth stressing that there are a number of scenarios in which the strongest winds miss the UK altogether. Even so, spells of wet and windy weather will be affecting many areas later this week.”
