Blood donors in Wrexham helped save or improve more than 220 lives at a recent donation session.

84 donors attended the session at the Wrexham Memorial Hall, which took place earlier this month.

A total of 75 units of blood were collected during the day, which after being split into their different components, have helped save or improve 225 lives.

The Welsh Blood Service say it needs to collect 450 donations of blood each day; with demand increasing over the past decade.

The next blood donation session is taking place on Friday 6th July, with donors invited to attend any of the sessions between 1:20pm – 3:30p and 5:10pm – 7:20pm.

Although not essential organisers recommend people book an appointment to donate and this can be done via the Welsh Blood website or our call centre on 0800 252266.

More information about giving blood and how you can get involved, can be found here.
