AVOX staff on the Redwither Industrial Estate raised £1,500 for Nightingale House after taking part in Chester Dragon Boat Race on Sunday 9 June 2013 on the River Dee.

AVOX entered two corporate teams, who competed against 18 other teams in the competition. The event, overall, has raised in excess of £16,500 for different charity causes.

David Ulotti, AVOX Ltd said: “We had a great time taking part in the boat race. We have entered a few times over the years, but this was definitely the best one yet. The weather was great and everyone was in the mood to get stuck in.

“It was hard work but we managed a respectable 13th & 14th place out of 24 teams. Considering that we had not done any training or preparation, this was an excellent result and as they say, it is the taking part that counts.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone that took part on our teams as they all gathered sponsorship money for Nightingale House and the total that was raised was really great. We love fundraising at Avox and the fact that we can help out a local charity makes it even more worthwhile.”

Margaret Hollings, Fundraising and Events Manager said: “We are very grateful to everybody at AVOX for taking part in this unique challenge and for raising such significant sponsorship for the hospice.

“The money raised will go towards funding palliative care services for the future; for patients and their families who are living with the effects of a life limiting illness, such as cancer.”
