Arriva Buses responds to 20mph speed limits with timetable changes
Arriva Buses has announced significant changes to its bus services across North Wales.
The revisions, set to take effect in the coming weeks are – they say – in response to the recently introduced 20mph speed restriction and aim to improve the reliability and efficiency of public transport in the region.
Starting Sunday, January 21st, the new timetables will impact several routes, including services in Chester, parts of Flintshire, Ellesmere Port and links to Wrexham.
Services 51 and x51, Rhyl to Wrexham changes, “Service 51 will no longer call into Tweadmill Shopping Outlet, on service x51 Llandegla will no longer be served, instead service will remain on A525. Timetable will be revised but there will be no change to the frequencies.”
In Chester, Service 3, which runs to Broughton, will now operate via Grosvenor Street in both directions, avoiding Handbridge.
Arriva says this rerouting is designed to provide a more streamlined and efficient service for commuters.
In a notable change for services 4, 4b, and X4, which connect Chester and Mold, Arriva will add an additional bus to the schedule.
While the timetables for these services will be revised, their frequency will remain unchanged, ensuring that passengers can continue to rely on regular services.
Service X4 will see some journeys revised to align with the changes made to services 4 and 4b, creating a more cohesive and coordinated schedule for travelers moving between these areas.
For passengers traveling from Mold to Ellesmere Port on Service 5, frequency adjustments are on the horizon.
The service will reduce to every 75 minutes, a change made to allocate additional time to each journey, again focusing on enhancing reliability.
Services 10 and 10a, running from Chester to Flint, will undergo a timetable revision.
However, the frequency of these services will remain as is, ensuring that passengers will not experience a reduction in the number of buses available.
Finally, services 11, 11c, 11f, and 11m, which operate from Chester to Rhyl, will also see changes.
Detailed information on these adjustments will be available from Sunday, January 14th.
