Community organisations and schools across Wrexham can apply for a free garden pack to help boost local biodiversity.

Keep Wales Tidy has opened applications for its ‘Local Places for Nature’ scheme.

Hundreds of free garden packages are available and include native plants, tools and materials, guidance on how to install the garden, and practical support from Keep Wales Tidy.

They range from small gardening projects to community orchards and large-scale food growing and wildlife gardens.

Schools, community groups and local organisations are all invited to apply for a free package.

Since its launch in 2020 the scheme has helped create and restore over 1,000 green spaces, many of which are in Wrexham.

A spokesperson for Keep Wales Tidy, said: “We’re urging communities to apply early to avoid missing out.

“Over the past three years organisations of all shapes and sizes in Wrexham have benefited from the scheme, including schools, charities, community councils and housing associations.”
