An appeal has been launched after damage was caused to Offa’s Dyke in Wrexham.

CADW has reported a section of Offa’s Dyke that runs along the back of properties on Cheshire View, Brymbo has been dug out – the ditch measuring 3m x 1m.

Police say that it is not known when the incident took place.

PC Chris James of the Rural Crime Team said: “Offa’s Dyke is a scheduled monument, which means no works should take place on or near it without prior consultation with the local authority for the area and CADW.

“The damage is an offence under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Area Act 1979.

“We would like to hear from anyone that may have information to assist with the investigation to contact us, quoting crime reference 24000213761.”
