Abandoned vehicles, a television theft, vulnerable adults and littering in Rhostyllen are amongst the incidents dealt with by town centre officers in the last 24 hours.

In his daily update, Inspector Luke Hughes said…

Exciting day for Wrexham as the hotly anticipated Wrexham AFC documentary lands on a certain streaming channel today, not watched it yet, but quite excited to find some time to this evening.

From what I understand they are very keen to encourage a sense of community and ownership, a sense that we are there for each other through the good times and the bad.

This is exactly what I as hope to encourage, the traditional community spirit, and we have it, we genuinely do, but we just need to be a little louder in our support for each other and lay off on the criticisms, it’s easy to pick fault, don’t be glass half empty.

Be glass half full, sorry. Soapbox again, anyone would think I’m running for election… not this year. J

So what’s been going on in little old Wrexham apart from us featuring on the one of the biggest streaming platforms in the world.

Well I’m please to say we start the day will little activity, we have a young “lady” in custody suspected of having caused damage to a door at a residential property last night, her entry was opposed and arrest necessary to prevent further issues, she will be interviewed this morning.

Yesterday saw sixty six incidents reported, but that’s not reflected in the crime recorded and a quick glance shows many to be abandoned calls, general admin enquiries, missing persons and suspicious circumstances, which is what we tend to grade something when it’s a bit dodgy but not quite criminal just yet.

I’ve summarised the day as below, have a read as you might just be able to spot something you can help with, if so, give us a call on 101 or via the chat facility on our website.

And remember, we are one community, the good amongst us far outnumber any bad apples so please take comfort in that.

10:44hrs: Call from staff at a retailer on Island Green they suspect a young lady has just helped herself to a 32” TV.

A grin emerges on my face as I realise it’s the same as the person arrested last night, maybe we need a chat about that today as well.

10:50hrs: Confused male in Wrexham town, officers have concerns regarding his vulnerability – appropriate support offered and referrals to be made.

10:55hrs: Report of ASB, damage and litter at the football pitches in Rhostyllen – parents if your children are going out question them as to where and with who?

There is no doubt in my mind that the offenders are local youths and I’m sure only a minority, please just make sure any children you own don’t get themselves involved in something that could have long lasting consequences.

11:00hrs: Report of male begging in Plas Coch – same male as before – he is not homeless and has a lot of support in place, he should not be present and has conditions that prohibit this – officers will look to locate later today – please do not encourage this behaviour.

12:36hrs: ASB use of motorbikes – Queensway & Dunks – officers will monitor – drone deployment considered – please do not ride at this location it is dangerous as lots of children play on this field.

15:53hrs: Report of children on the roof of Ty Pawb (people market multi-storey carpark) I watch on the CCTV as at least four youths aged around 14/16 years old walk about looking over the edge in a section that is clearly out of bounds and an incredibly dangerous place to be.

Ae have also have had damage reported at the roof garden previously.

Again, if your children our out on their own through the summer make sure they use some common sense… officers arrive and the youths make off but are rounded up and spoken too.

16:00hrs: Officer assist with a male having a medical episode Park Avenue.

16:30hrs: Single vehicle RTC Borras Link road – officers assist until vehicle moved from carriageway.

17:59hrs: Report of theft of EScooter from property at Kingstown.

19:46hrs: Named youth causing issues in the area of Morrison’s, Ruthin Road – enquiries ongoing and officers will meet with parents to discuss his increasingly concerning behaviour.

20:40hrs: ASB issues Crescent Road – two “ladies” fighting… names taken enquiries will follow up with CCTV and public order offences progressed.

00:52hrs: Female arrested for damage.

06:28hrs: Report of motorbike abandoned, enquiries identify it was stole overnight.

We had a spate of motor bike thefts a few months ago. One to monitor in case it starts again, bike will be examined for forensic opportunities.

Can I encourage all owners to keep them locked and secured at all times.

Have a good day all and look after each other.

Luke
