Update: The bypass has reopened to traffic following the earlier full closure.

No details of the incident have been released by police, however local residents have reported a large amount of police activity to the south side of the bypass and around the quarry area with what appeared to be searches taking place nearby and on the road itself.

Original information below.

The A483 is fully closed between Gresford and Rossett this afternoon.

“Road closed in both directions due to police incident”

The police helicopter has been overhead.

We are told there are a large number of police vehicles in the nearby area, with ‘searches’ taking place in woodland adjoining the bypass.

More shortly.
