Over 900 people have so far submitted their thoughts on proposed budget cuts by Wrexham Council, with three weeks remaining for people to have their say.

The consultation went live on the Wrexham Council website in September and with three weeks to go has already had more responses from the public than its predecessors.

Last year’s consultation saw just over 1000 take part in the consultation and in 2013 just 631 response forms were filled in, along with 91 letters.

The ‘Difficult Decisions’ consultation for 2015-16 encourages members of the public to make their views known as the council looks to make savings of an estimated £15.5million in the next twelve months.

Over the next three years it is anticipated that a total of £45million in savings will need to be found.

The current plot of how Council spending is split is illustrated below:

Back in September Wrexham.com did a detailed run through of this year’s consultation – the full details of which can be found here.

Some of the proposals put forward to make savings and generate income include a 5% increase of council tax, charging blue badge holders to park in council owned car parks, the opening of a pet crematorium, a revaluation of telecare services and a reduction / remodelling of staffing.

All the proposals put forward have not yet been set in stone and residents are encouraged to have their say on what is listed in the consultation before it ends on Tuesday October 27th.

As well as the online form the Council say: “There are a number of ways you can tell us what you think of our proposals:

  1. Please complete the survey – either online or in paper version telling Wrexham Council to what extent you agree with the proposals we are making.
  2. There will be more detailed consultations conducted with service users for some of these proposals – which will also contribute to the decision making process.
  3. You could also write to Wrexham Council at ‘Tell Us What You Think’.  3rd Floor Annex. The Guildhall. Wrexham. LL11 1AY
  4. Or email Wrexham Council at [email protected] (please mark your correspondence ‘Difficult Decisions’)

The closing date for responses to this consultation is Tuesday 27th October 2015.
