Police investigations are ongoing after a series of arson attacks in the Hightown area – and although witnesses have come forward, no arrests have so far been made.

The appeal follows on from a serious incident on the evening of Sunday 14th June, which saw eight vehicles in the Hightown area set alight. In what was described as ‘mindless night of criminal damage’ seven vehicles were left significantly damaged, while one received minor damage.

After the incident Town Centre Inspector Paul Wycherley announced there would be an increase in extra plain clothed officers and uniformed officers in Hightown for the foreseeable future.

A request for members of the public to work alongside North Wales Police with the investigation was also made, with anyone who has CCTV footage or security camera in the area asked to review the footage to see if there was any evidence of criminal activity.

So far no arrests have been made in relation to the incident.

Speaking today Inspector Wycherley said: “The investigation is ongoing and there are increased patrols still in the Hightown area, using overt and covert tactics. It is a CID only investigation and is progressing.

“Witnesses have come forward with information, but we want more to come forward about this serious offence.”

Anybody with information is urged to contact North Wales Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number S086449.
