Ruabon library welcomed members of Johnstown Beavers to work towards their IT badges on Thursday 15th November. The visit was organised by Johnstown Beaver Scout leader Michelle Wynne, who told us “I asked the librarians if we could come in to have a look at the library, and they suggested using the PCs. It was a great opportunity to get the IT badge done because we don’t have computers in the scout hut.”

The Beavers present worked on designing a poster using Microsoft Word, creating pictures using Microsoft Paint, and accessing files on a CD-ROM. In addition to Michelle, they were also helped by Debbie Smith, Head of IT at Welshpool High School.

Wrexham.com tried to interview a couple of the Beavers to get their thoughts on the afternoon’s visit but struggled to tear them away from the PCs for long enough to get much feedback out of them! One youngster took a quick break to tell us “It’s great! The best thing is being able to do your own poster,” before going back to doing just that. Overall, it was a very successful visit and the library staff were pleased to be able to provide computing facilities for the children.
