Didn’t think it would get quite the mixed emotions the post is getting. Good to see an involvement no matter what your opinion is.
Just to interject, It’s the Secretary of State and his advisory team who will have the final say, not WCBC or though they will be expected to put forward a Local Impact Report.
We are closing Coal Fired Power Stations down because of their carbon footprint & age. In my view, new Gas Fired plants are the next worse thing we could possible replace them with, particularly when we are so reliant upon the likes of the Russians for the supply, that’s until Fracking comes in of course, maybe those expects mentioned in some posts have got the skills to get the gas to the Power Station right from under our feet!
At potentially 5000 tonnes of Co2 a day, and the wind blowing in your direction, you’ll be glad of the expert who put the humongous chimney stacks (as high as 90 meters, that’s twice as high as the towns police station and St Giles church) in place to try and get the deposit past your veg patch.

If planning is granted for a Power Station on the Wrexham Industrial Estate, it will probably be under construction at the same time as the Prison, deep joy!

Gas fired power stations aren’t economical to run if the sales price is high, prices are set every half hour.
One is being proposed for building in Hirwaun, South Wales, that’s only going to be running for ‘up to 1500 hours per annum’ that’s only 17% capacity.

Don’t lose sight of the fact that we are still earmarked to get a huge gas fired power station too if planning is given! Where does that fit in?
